Raised in Seattle by a flamenco guitarist from Italy and a jazz vocalist from Georgia, Sonny found his way in the world of music through songwriting. His sound creates bridges between 60s folk, sad pop, and alternative, with the liberal use of space, layered violins, rickety pianos, classical guitar and forward vocals. These sonic choices offer a pleasing compliment to a lyrical landscape filled with hopeful melancholy. Though remaining integral to Sonny’s life, he stepped away from music professionally after college to become a high school English teacher in Chicago. Following his time in the classroom, he and his partner became dyslexia practitioners and founded a school for kids with learning differences which now has multiple locations in Chicago and many national collaborations. Sonny recently moved to Nashville where he will begin his journey back into music by debuting a series of solo, multi-instrumental singles throughout 2024.
